We went out to Lamy, NM a few weeks ago to pick up our friend Stephanie who was arriving from NYC by train. She's doing a documentary about the Southwest Chief, a train that I have traveled on a few times myself. I love going out to the train station. It's the original station which was built in 1880s. I love it when the zinnias are in bloom. It is so nice to be able to step out into the backyard and cut fresh flowers to keep under the skylight in the kitchen. Procured Arcade Fire tickets without a hitch. They are still available if you are in the area and want to go. We've had arctic temperatures in Santa Fe for the past two days and it's not much fun. The drive from Loganville, GA to Franklin, NC is about 2.5 hours or so. There was snow all along the way, but not on the roads so it was smooth sailing. Much of the countryside that we passed was covered in snow and sparkling in the sunshine. It was so lovely, but we were following Will's folks so there was no stopping to take photos. It's always a bit frustrating to "waste" shots whether it be from mistakes or things like the camera locking up and causing the film to jam. But that initial frustration can also lead to a bit of delight when those mistakes turn into something interesting. I love how the mushed up chemicals have so much texture. We're all a bit sleepy around here right now, although the cats get plenty of sleep so I don't know what their excuse is.
